Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the excited market women in Esan West Local Government, on Saturday, converged on the palace of the Enogie of Ekpoma, His Majesty, Zaiki Anthony Abumere II, to express their firm support for all the Edo Central Peoples Democratic Party candidates ahead February 25th general elections and for assisting market women in the local government to grow their businesses.
The traders, who described Senator Clifford Akhimienmona Ordia as “the most trader-friendly Senator”, disclosed that “we have never had it so good like this since 1999”.
The women added that Rt Hon. Marcus, who is currently the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, has always remembered the welfare of the traders, stressing that they are supporting his election because he cares for them and the masses.
Presenting their stance, the spokesperson of the market Women, Mrs Esahomoh Oamen, appreciated Senator Clifford Ordia for the Traders Empowerment Scheme to assist genuine traders ranging from N150,000 and N250,000 to grow their various businesses across Edo Central Senatorial District.
She noted that the women have benefited immensely from the empowerment programmes, expressing delight with the Senator’s passion for the wellbeing of the traders.
However, like Oliver twist, she pleaded for more empowerment and support for traders in the local government.
The excited market women, comprising representatives of all the markets in the local government therefore, unanimously endorsed Senator Clifford Ordia for Senate, Rt.Hon. Marcus Onobun for Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben Federal Constituency and Mr Ihenyen Omozogie for Esan West House of Assembly, declaring that “the only thing we can give you all is our vote – our united vote goes to the three of you.”
