A 25-year-old woman, Rabi’a Labaran, is in police custody after allegedly stabbing her co-wife, 30-year-old Zainab Lawal, to death during a late-night quarrel in Daura town, Katsina State.
The deadly fight broke out on the 24th of May, 2025, behind Dadi Primary School in the Sabon Gari area.
The police said that the women got into a heated argument that spiraled into violence. Their husband, Nasir Yusuf, returned from the market around 11:00 p.m. to a horrific scene of Zainab lying motionless, covered in stab wounds.
He alerted authorities. The Divisional Police Officer and his team rushed over and moved Zainab to the Federal Medical Centre, Daura, where she was confirmed dead.

Rabi’a reportedly admitted to the killing during interrogation. She told investigators that an argument between her and Zainab became physical and ended fatally.
Katsina State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Shehu, confirmed the arrest and condemned the act. He urged residents to stay away from violence and seek lawful ways to settle disputes.
“Disputes should be resolved through lawful channels. Taking the law into one’s hands only deepens the crisis and erodes the rule of law,” he said.
The police command says it is determined to get justice for the victim. Investigations are ongoing, and Rabi’a remains in custody as the case progresses.
