Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike said he had asked elders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State to look for his successor.
He said they should search for someone with the capacity and passion to defend the interest of the state and its people.
Wike disclosed this at a surprise birthday party his wife, Justice Eberechi Nyesom-Wike, organised for him at a sports complex in their private residence at Rumuepirikom, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Monday night.
He said in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday by his media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, “I have dedicated this my birthday to make sure that whoever is going to succeed me will be for the interest of the Rivers people.”
Wike, after sharing the story of how the wife tricked him to attend the secret party she organised for him, expressed gratitude to God for granting him a fruitful and eventful life.
He also appreciated the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, the wife of the governor of Oyo State, Mrs Tamunominni Makinde, and other dignitaries for gracing the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Wike’s wife thanked God for the love He had continued to show the husband.
Showering encomium on the husband, Justice Eberechi Nyesom-Wike prayed to God to grant him his heart desires and long fruitful life.
