A day after pledging to retaliate against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Working Committee for assuming control of the cases brought by the party’s state chapter, Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, has called on the state electorate not to vote for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate.
Though the governor did not mention Atiku’s name, he asked the people to only vote during the February 25, and March 11 general elections, the State PDP’s governorship, senatorial, House of Reps, and State Assembly candidates.
He made the call for a protest vote against PDP’s presidential candidate while speaking during the Ahoada West Local Government Area’s state PDP campaign.
He urged the populace to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to ‘pepper’ the National Secretariat for abandoning them after the flooding that decimated the local government area in 2022.
Wike recalled how some PDP members avoided the people of Rivers while visiting other states to express their sympathy for their flood disaster.
Woke said, “You had a major flooding problem. Did anybody at the national secretariat of our party visit you? But they went to the other states. We will love who loves us, and hate who who hates us.
“We will use our power to pepper them.
“The only people you are voting for are the governorship, the senatorial, the House of Representatives and the House of Assembly Candidates.”
In addition, Wike urged the residents of Ahoada West to mobilize voters from all units and abide by the PDP’s state leadership’s directives, particularly because this year’s elections are unlikely to see ballot boxes stolen.
