The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) and Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals (DPRP) have pledged to deepen their strategic collaboration to secure Nigeria’s energy future and advance the nation’s economic prosperity.
This was revealed in a statement released on Friday, May 9, by Olufemi Soneye, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd.
According to the statement, the renewed commitment was made during a courtesy visit on Thursday by Dangote Group President, Aliko Dangote, to the NNPC Towers, where he met with the Group CEO of NNPC Ltd., Mr. Bashir Bayo Ojulari, and members of the senior management team.
Speaking during the meeting, Dangote emphasised the importance of unity between both organisations, stating: “There is no competition between us, we are not here to compete with NNPC Ltd.
“NNPC is part and parcel of our business, and we are also part of NNPC. This is an era of co-operation between the two organisations.”

He also congratulated the newly appointed NNPC management, describing their appointments as “well-deserved” and acknowledging the scale of the task before them.
He expressed confidence that the team, under Ojulari’s leadership, would meet the expectations of the Nigerian people.
Responding, Ojulari expressed his appreciation for the visit and pledged to uphold a partnership built on “healthy competition and productive collaboration.”
He praised the NNPC workforce as “dedicated, highly skilled, and hardworking professionals who are consistently keen on delivering value for Nigeria.”
Ojulari assured that NNPC remains committed to building a legacy of national prosperity “through innovation and shared purpose,” and would continue to work closely with the Dangote Group wherever mutual commercial benefit exists.
Both leaders concluded by agreeing to serve as relationship managers for their respective organisations, committing to sustained collaboration that unlocks new opportunities for Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
