Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide says its members across the nation are not divided over the coming 2023 presidential election.
This was made known by the group’s Vice President, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, who said the organisation was yet to decide on the candidate to support ahead of the 2023 presidency.
According to him, the organisation would announce its position after the ongoing consultations by its leadership.
He noted that other regional organisations such as Afenifere, the Pan-Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and the Middle Belt Forum appear to have endorsed Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi.
The Ohanaeze leader said that the group, as a non-political organisation, is looking for someone with the interest of Nigeria at heart and who would be acceptable to all irrespective of party affiliation.
He said: “What Ohanaeze is looking at is a good candidate from the leading political parties to get behind.”
Okeke-Ogene said Ohanaeze was not divided, adding that all the presidential candidates were Nigerians and qualified.
“What Ndigbo wanted was a candidate from the Southeast from the two leading political parties, but during their primaries, they failed us by not giving us any,” he said.
