Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, on Saturday, shone in Ijaw traditional dresses complimented with a hat and walking stick during his during engagements in Bayelsa.
Osinbajo was in Bayelsa State to kick off the construction of Angiama-Oporoma Bridge designed to link several communities as part of activities lined up for the second anniversary of Governor Douye Diri.
Osinbajo was also conferred with the traditional chieftaincy title of “Ebidou-owei 1”, meaning ‘a man who desires good.’
Governor Diri stated that the Chieftaincy title was conferred on the VP as a “a testimony of his valued relationship with the Ijaw people.”
Many Nigerians, especially on the social media, were, however, fascinated by the Ijaw outfit adorned by Osinbajo, which he complemented with a hat and walking stick during his engagements in Bayelsa.
The Vice President certainly looked different and resplendent in the outfit.
The suitability of the Ijaw attire was also not lost on the Vice President, who narrated how he was honoured with the outfit during his visit to King Malla Sasime, Vice Chairman, Bayelsa Traditional Rulers Council at the Bayelsa Traditional Rulers Council Secretariat in company with Governor Diri and other government officials.
According to Osinbajo, “When you look at this outfit, you would imagine that this is what I wear everyday; it is well made but it is courtesy of my dear brother, Diri.
“He is the one that made sure that I am appropriately attired.
“All, I can say to him is that he has to make me a few more because after people have seen this, they expect me to show up more often in this outfit.
“So, I want to thank you very much your Royal Majesties and thank the good people of Bayelsa for the warm welcome.’’
Earlier, the VP was presented with a traditional gift — a walking stick — to match the Ijaw traditional attire he adorned.
