The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the 2023 presidential election, Atiku Abubakar, on Monday, met with Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
The two PDP chieftains met in Abuja, FirstNews learnt.
Atiku had Saturday night in Abuja, defeated Wike at the PDP’s presidential primary. He scored 371 votes to defeat Wike, who gathered 237 votes.
It was learnt that their meeting on Monday was part of the efforts to reconcile the two politicians in order to avoid a division in the opposition PDP in the 2023 presidential election against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Among those at Atiku’s meeting with Wike include a former Ekiti State Governor and PDP presidential aspirant, Ayodele Fayose
Wike has been silent after suffering defeat at the primaries.
Recall that the Rivers State governor had during his speech before the commencement of voting on Saturday, had promised to support any candidate that emerges.
But was nowhere to be found when the former VP was giving his acceptance speech.
