VeryDarkMan Declines EFCC Summons: ‘I Won’t Show Up’

Activist and social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan, has revealed his refusal to respond to an invitation from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) concerning allegations of corruption against the agency’s officials.

In a recent video, VeryDarkMan shared an audio recording allegedly featuring social media figure Bobrisky, who claimed he was solicited for a bribe of N15 million to drop a money laundering charge.

This revelation prompted the EFCC to summon both VeryDarkMan and Bobrisky to its Lagos office, seeking their cooperation in uncovering the supposed bribery.

However, VeryDarkMan announced on the 25th of September, 2024, that he would not comply with the invitation, citing his lack of residence in Lagos and expressing uncertainty about his safety should he attend.

Instead, he proposed that the EFCC convene in Abuja to discuss the matter. He further criticized the agency for failing to ensure that Bobrisky faced appropriate legal consequences and remained imprisoned.

“Before you (EFCC) invite someone like me, do a deep investigation on your officers first. When you get the result from your officers who handled Bobrisky’s file, then you can invite me.
“You are telling me to come to Lagos and the headquarters of EFCC is in Abuja; it makes no sense. You should, instead, invite Bobrisky to Abuja and do your investigation.

“Lastly, why I would not go to Lagos is that I don’t have N15 million to pay for anything. I don’t have any godfathers anywhere and I don’t want to be framed. I don’t trust you and I won’t go (to Lagos),” he concluded.

Bobrisky has however refuted the claims that he paid N15 million to have the money laundering charge dismissed, labeling the audio recording as fabricated.
