The People of Oviri -Olomu in Delta State have been charged to embrace peace and avoid tearing the community apart due to crisis.
This charge was given by the Special Adviser to the Delta Governor on Peace Building and Conflict Resolution, Chief Edwin Uzor, at a joint meeting he held with representatives of Oviri-Olomu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area at the Governor’s Office Annexe, Warri.
Welcoming the people of Oviri -Olomu to the meeting, Chief Edwin Uzor told them that they had been invited as a result of the leadership crisis in their community, warning that if not checked, it could lead to the breakdown of peace.
Uzor enjoined them to shun all divisive tendencies and tow the path of peace, saying that for there to be peace, the truth must said always as leaders.
He advised that those who seek leadership must follow the due process, and enjoined the people to follow what was laid down by the community.
After listening to the elders, leaders, youths, the contending candidates for the position of president-general, lawyers from the community, clergymen and the Otota of the community, Chief Samuel Akporeghe, the special adviser enjoined them to go home and that each quarter should produce the position that is given to them.
Uzor called on the Otota, Chief Samson Akporeghe to be straightforward in the handling of the community’s affairs, saying tilting to one side would make the other side to be biased in any plan he draws.
He advised the Otota, to get the local government authorities and security operatives involved in their inauguration.
The quarters have up to the 26th December, 2020 to produce their candidates to the community.
