Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma on Thursday told President Muhammadu Buhari, “Imo people love you so much.”
He said this as he welcomed Buhari to Imo State, thanking him for ensuring the state remained secure not withstanding violent attacks from secessionists and militia groups.
He added, “I am personally overwhelmed by your esteemed presence. Thank you Mr. President and welcome to Imo.”
Buhari in his response said he was glad to be in Imo and to have a first-hand feel of the governor’s projects.
Buhari is in the state to commission road and other completed projects in Imo.
He will also meet with stakeholders in the Southeast region during his brief stay.
First News earlier reported that President Buhari received a warm welcome by some citizens of the state upon his arrival.
Meanwhile, Buhari’s visit to the state witnessed deserted streets as economic activities in Owerri, the capital of the state, and in other parts were shut down due to the sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).
