The United States has cautioned its citizens in Nigeria to steer clear of prominent hotels in the nation due to heightened risks in major urban areas.
This warning was issued as part of an emergency information notice for American citizens on November 3.
The advisory urges US nationals to exercise vigilance when staying at large hotels, stay aware of their surroundings, maintain a low profile, and consult the travel advisory for Nigeria before choosing their accommodation.
The notice reads, “The US Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.”
According to the advisory, the Nigerian security agencies are working to counter the threat.
“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat,” it stated.
The notice provided the addresses and telephone contacts of the US embassy in Abuja and its consulate in Lagos in an event any US citizen requires help.
