The University of Kent has awarded its alumna, Afrobeats singer Tiwa Savage with an honourary doctorate degree on Friday.
The singer was awarded Doctor of Music at the University’s graduation ceremony held at Canterbury Cathedral.
Announcing the award in its Twitter page, the University wrote: “Congratulations Dr @TiwaSavage! 👏
“We’re super proud to have awarded the Queen of Afrobeats an honorary doctorate at Canterbury Cathedral this morning.
“Tiwa studied Business at Kent before she embarked on her incredible career – a reminder to all our graduates today to reach for the stars! ✨🤩 #MadeInKent.”
Tiwa Savage’s message to the Class of 2022 was also added: “I’m super proud and I want you to go out there, have fun and kill it. Be the best you that you can be because you truly deserve it.
