United Fans Celebrate as Amorim Ends City’s UCL Streak, 4-1

Manchester United fans were buzzing with excitement on Tuesday night as Ruben Amorim, their soon-to-be head coach, orchestrated a stunning 4-1 win for Sporting Lisbon over Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

The result not only ended City’s record-breaking unbeaten streak but also sent United fans dreaming of what Amorim might achieve when he officially takes the reins at Old Trafford.

Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, took an early lead through Phil Foden, who found the net in the 4th minute. However, Sporting Lisbon clawed their way back with an equalizer from Viktor Gyökeres in the 38th minute, leveling the scoreline heading into halftime.

Amorim’s tactical adjustments took center stage in the second half, with Sporting immediately grabbing the lead. Matheus Araújo struck in the 46th minute, and Gyökeres added his second in the 49th minute to put Sporting firmly in control.

City’s defense was unable to contain the relentless pressure, and Gyökeres completed his hat trick in the 80th minute, sealing a historic 4-1 victory.

The defeat shattered Manchester City’s 26-match unbeaten streak in the Champions League, which had stretched from 2022 to 2024, marking the longest such run in tournament history.

Previously, Manchester United had held the record with a 25-match unbeaten run between 2007 and 2009. United fans are now hopeful that Amorim, who has demonstrated a knack for beating Europe’s best, can bring that winning mentality to Old Trafford.

With Amorim set to arrive soon, Manchester United supporters eagerly anticipate a revival under the Portuguese coach, dreaming of memorable victories over rivals and perhaps even breaking records of their own.
