Kazeem Sanusi, a final-year Mathematics student at the University of Ilorin, has broken the Guinness World Record for the Longest Mathematics Lesson after teaching continuously for 31 hours, 42 minutes, and 54 seconds.
According to a statement on Tuesday, April 15, by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Kunle Akogun, the marathon session surpassed the previous 26-hour record and was witnessed by officials from Guinness World Records.
“Kazeem performed the feat to the cheers of a captivated audience led by the University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole, SAN; the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management Services), Professor Adegboyega Fawole; the Registrar, Mr Mansur Alfanla; the Dean of Physical Sciences, Professor Abdullahi Alafara Baba; the Acting Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Alex Akanmu, and the Student Union President, Comrade Victor Agezeh, among others,” Akogun stated.

He added that Sanusi is currently awaiting official confirmation of the achievement from Guiness World Records.
Commending the student, Vice Chancellor Wahab Egbewole said, “The University is immensely proud of the feat of Kazeem, and we will continue to encourage others to find their passion and pursue it.”
He expressed confidence that the university would keep providing an enabling environment for its students, adding, “Others would be inspired by Kazeem’s feat to also break all ceilings and continue to write the name of the University in gold.”
