David Umahi, the governor of Ebonyi State, asserts that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, is alive and does not require any proof to back up this assertion.
If a man is alive, he need not show any proof of his presence.
Umahi, who appeared on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program on Monday stated, “You can see that Asiwaju is alive and does not need to provide any evidence of this.”
On Sunday, Tinubu posted a quick workout video of himself on his verified social media accounts in response to concerns about his health. He declared himself to be in good health and ready to lead the country.
When asked why Tinubu gave the workout video as evidence of life, Umahi retorted that Tinubu is healthy and does not need any proof of life.
He said, “Nobody is totally well and nobody is totally sick. That is one point. Another point is that Nigerians are so petty. A man that is doing his workout is being videoed and circulated on social media without his knowledge.
“I don’t think we should concentrate on intangibles because life is like a bus and you don’t know where the next bus stop is. Some of the people talking about the health of leaders of this country do not even know where their own bus stop is coming from. Every life and death rests in the hands of God.”
Umahi also discussed the postponed swearing in of the APC Presidential Campaign Council and the fallout from the party’s publishing of a list of 422 candidates.
According to the Ebonyi State governor, “The presidential campaign committee is just a mere recognition of the importance of stakeholders in the entire affairs.
“It doesn’t translate to major contributions in terms of winning elections. Politics is at the local level. For me, the formidable presidential campaign is at the state level. That is where it is supposed to be and that is where it will be.”
