Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has said that a former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, lied with the claim he contributed to his (Umahi’s) defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He called on Fani-Kayode to withdraw the lies, adding that the former minister did not even know when he decided to dump the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC.
After he was officially introduced to President Muhammadu Buhari as a member of the APC at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday, Fani-Kayode, had claimed responsibility for the defection of Governor Umahi, Governor Ben Ayade, Cross River State and Governor Bello Matawalle, Zamfara State.
He had gone ahead to hint that he is currently wooing three more governors in PDP to join the ruling party.
The three governors according to the former minister are Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, and Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State.
But speaking when he featured on Channels Television’s programme, Umahi said:
“I think he (Fani-Kayode) needs to withdraw that statement. He’s my good friend but it was an insult to my person and the other governors.
“The man did not know when I moved, but incidentally he visited me and we discussed, and he said he was coming to join me with the other governors to declare.
“How will somebody in the PDP be instrumental to my moving?”
