Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been formally charged with several sexual offences by the Metropolitan Police, according to an official statement released on Friday, July 4.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) confirmed that it had authorised the charges after reviewing a file submitted by investigators.
“The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police Service to charge a man after a file of evidence was submitted by detectives,” the statement read.
“The Met has issued a charge and requisition to Thomas Partey, 32 (13/06/1992), of Hertfordshire, in connection with the following offences: five counts of rape, one count of sexual assault,” the CPS added.

The allegations date back to incidents said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.
Partey, whose contract with Arsenal officially ended earlier this week, is expected to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, August 5.
Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, said the wellbeing of the individuals involved remains a priority.
“Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward. We would ask anyone who has been impacted by this case, or anyone who has information, to speak with our team,” he said.
“You can contact detectives about this investigation by emailing CIT@met.police.uk,” he added.
