As the wind of festivity blows across the globe in anticipation of Christmas celebrations, Udu Local Government Council last Thursday held her 2nd Nine Lessons and Carols at the Sokoh Hall in the council secretariat in Otor Udu, the headquarters of the local government area.
This year’s lessons and carols, which was organised by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) with the theme “O hail the King,” was well attended.
The council chairman, represented by the Secretary of the Council, Mrs Eloho Awinoren, read the 3rd lesson while the Vice Chairman, Hon. justice Irikefe Iyasere, read the 4th lessons and the 9th lessons by the NULGE Chairman, Comrade Matthew Emuejevwe.
The Canon of Ughelli Anglican Diocese, Frank Onokpite, delivered the sermon, quoting Matthew 2 verses 1-12, stated that there was every reason to hail our Lord Jesus for the gift of life, especially at this time when many countries in the world were in phase 2 of COVID-19 lockdown.
He highlighted that the birth of Jesus signifies the unfolding of light.
He said that when light comes darkness disappears, adding that the emergence of the birth of Christ caused sickness and disease to disappear.
The carol night featured musical presentations and ministrations by the various departments in the council.
