Ahead of Nigeria’s clash with France at their opening group game of the 2022 U20 Women’s World Cup, France’s coach has said that she is wary of the Falconets.
Speaking in an interview on FIFA’s website, Sonia Haziraj extolled the Nigerian girls and noted that her side must match the Falconets’ athletism and abilities.
“I’m extremely wary of Nigeria. I have massive respect for the African game and Nigeria have a number of players who possess real quality.
“The Nigerians always get out of their group at the youth tournaments. I’ve watched them and they’re a well-drilled, hard-working side.
“They have great pace and are very athletic, and we’ll have to be ready to match them in that respect.”
Nigeria’s Falconets will square up with France’s Little Blues in the opening match of Group C on Thursday, August 11, at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica, San José.
A win for the Falconets’ will boost their chances of getting out of the group as they face Canada and South Korea in their other group games.
