U.S. Diplomatic Missions to Close Monday for Presidents’ Day Holiday

The United States diplomatic missions in Nigeria will temporarily suspend operations on Monday, 17 February 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day.

In a statement shared on X on Sunday, February 16, the U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos announced that they would not be open for regular services but would resume normal activities on Tuesday, 18 February 2025.

“The U.S. Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos will be closed on Monday, February 17, 2025, in observance of Presidents’ Day. We will resume normal operations on Tuesday, 18 February 2025,” the statement read.

Presidents’ Day is a national holiday in the United States, celebrated every third Monday of February to honour the country’s past and present leaders.

While emergency services will remain available, routine consular activities, including visa applications and passport services, will recommence after the holiday. Nigerians requiring consular assistance are advised to plan accordingly.
