The Flying Eagles of Nigeria will face defending champions Senegal in the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Monday, May 12, in Ismailia, Egypt.
Senegal confirmed their place as Nigeria’s opponents after defeating DR Congo 2–0 in their final Group C match on Thursday.
The result secured their qualification and set up a knockout clash with the Nigerian side.
Nigeria booked their spot in the last eight on Wednesday following a 2–2 draw against Kenya in their final Group B game.

The Flying Eagles finished second in the group with five points, behind leaders Morocco who defeated Tunisia 3–1 in the other group fixture.
The quarter-final fixture is a crucial encounter, as all four semi-finalists in the tournament will earn qualification for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in Chile later this year.
The Flying Eagles, who have won the U-20 AFCON a record seven times, arrived in Ismailia on Thursday ahead of the match.
The game will kick off at 3:00 p.m. Egypt time (1:00 p.m. Nigeria time).
Nigeria’s previous U-20 AFCON titles came in 1983, 1985, 1987, 1989, 2005, 2011, and 2015. They were runners-up in 1999 and 2007.
