Two Chinese Nationals Abducted in Ogun

Two Chinese nationals have been abducted by gunmen in the Kemta area, near Onigbedu, in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident on Monday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, stated that the command is making concerted efforts to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped individuals. The victims, identified as Wenguang and Ding, were reportedly working for a company in the area when they were abducted.

Odutola disclosed that the kidnappers have already contacted the company to demand a ransom for the release of the hostages.

“The company’s security supervisor reported that one of the expatriates called to inform him that Wenguang and Ding had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers were demanding money in exchange for their release,” she said.

In response to the abduction, the Ogun State Police Command has mobilized a search and rescue operation involving various security agencies.

“Our operatives in the Ewekoro Division, with the assistance of local vigilantes, military personnel from the Social Orientation and Safety Corps, local hunters, and other security groups, thoroughly searched the entire Kemta Village forest for the victims but were unable to find them,” Odutola explained.

Despite the challenges faced during the initial search, Odutola assured the public that efforts to secure the safe release of the kidnapped individuals are ongoing. The police command is working closely with all relevant security groups in the area to bring the victims back safely.

This incident marks another instance of insecurity in the region, and the police are urging anyone with information that could aid in the rescue operation to come forward.

The situation remains tense as negotiations and rescue efforts continue.
