After much clamour, Twitter has announced that it is testing a feature which could let users edit their tweets within a timeframe after it had been sent.
According to Twitter, “Edit Tweet is a feature that lets people make changes to their Tweet after it’s been published”.
Tweets can be edited to fix typographical or grammatical errors, add missed tags, and much more.
It said, “Tweets will be able to be edited a few times in the 30 minutes following their publication. Edited Tweets will appear with an icon, timestamp, and label so it’s clear to readers that the original Tweet has been modified. Tapping the label will take viewers to the Tweet’s Edit History, which includes past versions of the tweet.
“The time limit and version history will play an important role which Twitter says will “help protect the integrity of the conversation and create a publicly accessible record of what was said”.
After trial, the feature will also be available to paid users of Twitter Blue in the coming months, which will also be used as a trial before it is rolled out for all users.
