The Lagos State Government has advised motorists and other road users to seek alternative routes following a significant traffic disruption caused by a truck collision at the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday evening, involved a container-laden truck that struck the steel height barrier at the entrance of the bridge near Admiralty Road.
The truck, which was attempting to ascend the bridge with a 40-foot container, became stuck as the height barrier was damaged and wedged between the trailer’s front and the container.
The crash led to the blockage of the access road, severely impacting traffic flow and creating substantial gridlock around the Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge.
Responding quickly to the situation, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) were dispatched to manage the scene and restore normal traffic movement.

As of 10 a.m., traffic had been redirected through the Lekki Phase 1 tollgate corridor to alleviate congestion.
In a statement, Taofiq Adebayo, the Director of Public Affairs for LASTMA, urged road users to remain patient and exercise caution when navigating the affected area.
He further advised those not yet caught in the traffic buildup to consider using alternative routes, including Ikoyi Kingsway Road, to avoid delays and reach their destinations more efficiently.
Authorities continue to work on clearing the wreckage and repairing the damaged barrier to restore full access to the bridge.
