Troops of the Nigerian Army deployed for counter-terrorism operations in Borno State have killed five terrorists in an operation targeting Boko Haram/ISWAP strongholds in Ajiri and Mastari villages, Bama Local Government Area.
In a statement posted on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter), the Army detailed that weapons including Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bombs, two AK-47 magazines, 28 rounds of 7.62mm (special) ammunition, and a light machine gun were recovered during the raid.
“In a series of decisive operations, troops of the Nigerian Army have dealt another crushing blow on terrorists, neutralising several high-profile fighters and recovering lethal weapons, including rocket bombs and a significant cache of ammunition,” the statement read.
The Army confirmed that the operation, which took place on September 29, 2024, leveraged superior firepower to decimate four notorious fighters. During another encounter at Banki Junction, Bama LGA, another terrorist was neutralized.
Additionally, troops rescued four injured civilians in Katsina after responding to a distress call about an abduction along the Gurbi-Jibia road in Jibia Local Government Area. Upon the approach of the troops, the terrorists fled, leaving behind the victims, who were immediately evacuated for medical care.
In a separate operation in Plateau State, the Army arrested two notorious kidnappers, Isah Abdullahi (24) and Mujahid Musa (23), involved in multiple violent attacks in Mangu Local Government Area. Two motorcycles, mobile phones, and other items were recovered during the raid.
The Army also confirmed the arrest of a notorious arms dealer, Kabiru Zaki, and an accomplice connected to a recent murder in Brazongo village, Bassa Local Government Area, during a raid in Bukuru town, Jos South.
