Ahead of APC primaries, Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has appealed to the people of Toto Local Government to observe a peaceful conduct of the exercise.
He has also tasked aspirants contesting for various political positions to know that it’s God that gives power to whom ever he wishes at anytime, hence the need for those who will not make it at the polls to accept it in good faith.
Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi made the call when he paid homage to Onah of Toto, HRH Alh Muhammad Umar Azaki in his palace in Toto LGA on Wednesday.
He said, “Your Highness, I am on my way to Umaisha for tomorrow’s election and I said I will branch your Palace to receive Royal blessings.
“Secondly, I want this election to be peaceful, Toto LG is our home and we have know any other place to call our home than Toto LG, therefore it behold on us to ensure the sustainable peace and development of our people.
“This is democracy, you will see up to 10 people looking for one position and it is only one person that will emerge, that is the will of God and we should accept it in good faith.
“My main concern is the peace and development of our LG and our people.”
According to him, the call has become imparative considering the situation in the area in order not to jeopardize the peace being enjoyed in the area.
Speaker Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi particularly warned youths to eschew violence during and after the Governorship and State House of Assembly APC primary elections billed for Thursday, stressing that anyone found wanting would be dealt with according to the law, as security agencies were on alert to maintain law and order.
Responding, the Onah of Toto, HRH Alh Muhammad Umar Azaki, appreciated the Speaker for the visit promising to work together with him to ensure peaceful conduct of the exercise for peace and progress of the area.
