Tinubu Winning War on Terrorism, 8,000 Killed, 11,600 Arrested — Matawalle

Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, has said that the killing of over 8,000 terrorists and bandits, the arrest of more than 11,600 criminal suspects, and the recovery of more than 10,000 weapons in 2024 clearly show that President Bola Tinubu is winning the war against insecurity.

Matawalle made the comment on Monday, May 5, in Abuja while praising the administration’s security strategy and structural reforms.

He pointed to the creation of the Multi-Agency Anti-Kidnap Fusion Cell (MAAKFC) as a major breakthrough in intelligence sharing and coordination, particularly in the fight against kidnapping.

“These initiatives will pave the way for a brighter future for Nigeria and potentially secure Tinubu’s re-election in 2027,” the minister said.

He described the security efforts as a reflection of President Tinubu’s wider reform agenda, which he said was laying the groundwork for a safer and more stable country.

Matawalle also commended the administration’s economic policies, noting the establishment of the Ministry of Livestock Development as a step toward unlocking the North’s agricultural potential and boosting productivity.

He said the recent fall in grain prices was proof that Tinubu’s agricultural programmes were yielding results.

Turning to infrastructure, he cited improved road networks and transport systems, especially in northern Nigeria, as key to sustaining the country’s development.

On governance, Matawalle endorsed the new law on local government autonomy, describing it as a necessary tool for enhancing accountability and development at the grassroots.

He ended by expressing confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, saying the president’s current trajectory signals “real hope for lasting national progress.”
