President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi, have departed Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, following their participation in the 2024 G20 Leaders’ Summit.
Tinubu’s presence at the summit was at the invitation of President Lula da Silva.
The summit, held from November 18 to 19, 2024, centred on the theme “Building a Just World and a Sustainable Planet.”
Discussions focused on sustainable economic, social, and environmental development, global governance reforms, climate change, and the digital economy.
President Tinubu engaged in bilateral talks aimed at advancing Nigeria’s socio-economic reforms during the event hosted by Brazilian President Lula da Silva.
The gathering featured leaders from the world’s top 20 economies, including the European Union, the African Union, and global financial institutions.
Member countries include Argentina, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, South Korea, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, the UK, and the US.
Accompanying Tinubu were key government officials: Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Livestock Development Idi Maiha, Minister of Arts, Tourism, and Culture Hannatu Musawa, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security Dr. Aliyu Abdullahi, and National Intelligence Agency Director General Mohammed Mohammed.
