Tinubu Visits Maiduguri to Condole with Victims of Flood Disaster

President Ahmed Bola Tinubu arrived in Maiduguri on Monday to offer condolences to the government and people of Borno State following the devastating flood, which struck earlier this week.

Tinubu arrived around 3:15 pm and was welcomed by Governor Babagana Zulum at the Maiduguri International Airport.

The president’s visit comes after last Monday’s flood, which submerged nearly half of Maiduguri, resulting in the loss of lives and widespread damage to property. The flood, caused by a breach in the Alau Dam, displaced thousands of residents, leaving many without homes and livelihoods.

In response, the Borno State government has opened 36 camps to shelter those affected by the disaster.

President Tinubu is scheduled to visit one of these camps to address displaced persons and offer federal support. Before that, he is expected to pay a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Umar-Garbai El-Kaneni, to express solidarity with the traditional leadership during this difficult time.

The flood has caused significant disruption in the region, and the president’s visit aims to assess the damage firsthand and coordinate relief efforts with the state government to ensure the displaced receive necessary aid.
