During a swearing-in ceremony for seven new ministers at the presidential villa in Abuja, President Bola Tinubu encouraged them to remain resilient in the face of criticisms and to stay focused on their duties.

He acknowledged the rising cost of living and the seriousness of the current challenges but assured that his administration is committed to tackling these issues head-on.

Tinubu stated, “The moment is challenging, the present situation calls for a very serious commitment. Yours is a duty to serve and that is what you’ve got to do.”

He expressed gratitude for the National Assembly’s swift action in screening and confirming the ministers, highlighting their dedication to the nation’s governance.

Addressing the new appointees, he said, “It is not easy to find just the unique people that will surrender their life, freedoms and other responsibilities to serve their nation anytime in this time of challenges.

“I am sincerely happy that you have done that and that you are here today to be part of a very committed team of Nigerians.”

The President stressed the importance of service and the need for economic recovery, noting, “Economic recovery is on the horizon. We have a good path to realise our dreams and it is not just only for us, it is for our children and grandchildren.”

He also mentioned that the administration is making progress in reducing debt servicing from 97% of revenue to 65%, emphasising that these economic challenges are global.

“Don’t worry; stay focused, stay resilient. Your thank will come with the history of growth and prosperity for this country,” he added.

Tinubu reiterated his commitment to eliminating resource profiteering and smuggling, stating, “We are not going to run away from our responsibility, we are going to face it, and we have been facing it head-on.”

Concluding his address, the President welcomed the ministers aboard, assuring them, “This ship will not sink.”
