President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 11th session of the Nigeria-South Africa Bi-National Commission (BNC) in Cape Town, South Africa.
The meeting is scheduled to hold from 28 November to 3 December 2024.
In a statement issued by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, Acting Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it was confirmed, “His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the Meeting.”
The BNC, established to strengthen bilateral cooperation, focuses on areas including defence and security, science and technology, education, culture, manufacturing, and energy.
The statement highlighted that the meeting would foster collaborative efforts to integrate Africa into global socio-economic and political developments.
It added that the session aims to enhance trade, investment, and bilateral relations in fields like technology, health, culture, youth, and sports.
Tinubu’s participation at the BNC will follow his three-day official visit to France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron.
The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, will lead the Ministry’s delegation and participate in the ministerial meeting scheduled for 2 December.
The Nigerian delegation is also expected to attend the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) from 28 to 30 November and the Presidential meeting on 3 December.
The Ministry noted that the BNC provides a platform to “maximize socio-economic development, enhance global competitiveness, and promote peace, stability, and economic integration across the continent.”
