President Bola Tinubu on Monday held a meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with former state governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), and Godswill Akpabio (Akwa Ibom).
The three former governors arrived at around 3:33 pm, but they faced a delay as security personnel sought clearance from their superiors before allowing them to proceed to the President’s office, as they were not previously informed about the visit.
Both Wike and Umahi had also separately visited the state house last week to meet with the President.
During that visit, Wike was accompanied by former governor James Ibori of Delta State and the governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde. On the other hand, Umahi came with Senator George Akume, the newly appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Wike stated in an interaction with journalists on Friday that he visited the State House to show his support for President Tinubu.
Meanwhile, Akpabio is the favored candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of Senate President, and Umahi, who recently left office, is a Senator-elect.
There are speculations that Wike may land a ministerial position following his contribution in the presidential election on February 25, which contributed in Tinubu’s emergence as president, despite being a member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The three governors were still meeting with Tinubu when this report was filed.
