Tinubu Labels Opposition as ‘Reactionary,’ Urges Ondo to Back APC

President Bola Tinubu has called opposition party members “reactionary politicians” while urging Ondo voters to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s governorship election.

Tinubu’s message was delivered in Akure on Wednesday by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the campaign rally for APC candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

Tinubu posed a question to supporters, asking if former Ondo leaders like Adekunle Ajasin or the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu would have voted for “any reactionary party.”

He argued that backing the APC would continue the South-West’s progress.

“If Ajasin were still alive, is he going to vote for the APC or the reactionary party? If Akeredolu were to be alive, is he going to vote for the APC or the reactionary party?” Tinubu asked.

He added, “Ondo State has two senior ministers; to whom much is given, much is expected.”

In addition, Tinubu announced the establishment of a federal teaching hospital in Ondo, a move he said demonstrated APC’s commitment to the state’s development.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, APC’s candidate, pledged to continue his loyalty to Ondo and advance the late Akeredolu’s vision.

“I was loyal to my former boss until the end, and I assure you of my commitment to the state’s progress,” Aiyedatiwa said.

Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo expressed confidence in APC’s victory, predicting a win across all 18 local government areas.

Similarly, Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Chair of APC’s Campaign Council for Ondo, encouraged supporters to secure victory by voting rather than engaging in disputes with opponents.

Finally, APC National Chairman Abdulahi Ganduje presented the party’s flag to Aiyedatiwa and his running mate, Dr Olayide Adelami, affirming their collective support for a successful election.
