Tinubu Depart France for Swearing-In of Kekere-Ekun as CJN

President Bola Tinubu is set to return to Nigeria on Friday to swear in Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

According to sources, the president will depart from France on Thursday night, after a brief work stay.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place at the council chambers of the presidential villa in Abuja. Tinubu’s early return from his trip underscores the significance of the occasion.

The current CJN, Olukayode Ariwoola, officially retired on Thursday after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70. A valedictory ceremony was held in his honor at the Supreme Court.

On August 15, the National Judicial Council (NJC), during its 106th meeting, recommended Kekere-Ekun to President Tinubu as Ariwoola’s successor. Kekere-Ekun’s appointment is expected to mark a significant moment in Nigeria’s judiciary.
