In a move highlighting his commitment to sports development in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu has given the green light for the payment of N12 billion to clear outstanding dues for the Super Eagles and other national sports teams.
The announcement, made through the official handle of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Media Center on X, outlines the specifics of the approved payment. The funds are allocated to address various financial commitments, including clearing senior national team coach salaries covering up to 15 months.
Additionally, allowances and commitments owed to the senior national teams, the female squads, and the Under-20 national team will be settled.
The statement from the media center affirms President Tinubu’s dedication to supporting Nigerian sports, particularly as the Super Eagles gear up for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled to commence later this month.
