Time is Running Out: Gani Adams Criticizes Tinubu for ‘Indifference’ to Nigerians’ Plight

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has openly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing it as indifferent, insensitive, and unresponsive to the suffering of Nigerians.

In a letter titled “President Bola Tinubu, Time is Going,” Adams expressed his deep disappointment with the government’s handling of economic hardship and insecurity.

Adams highlighted the rising cost of living, citing the drastic increase in fuel prices, which have soared from less than N200 to over N1,000 per liter, and the steep depreciation of the Naira, which has fallen from N740 to over N1,600 per Dollar.

“This administration has let down many Nigerians who once placed their hopes in your leadership,” Adams lamented.

The letter further criticized the government’s response to insecurity, noting that abductions and killings have escalated despite the presence of top security chiefs.

Adams questioned the effectiveness of the President’s security briefings, stating, “The insecurity situation has worsened, and the briefings you receive do not seem to reflect the reality on the ground.”

Adams also voiced concern over the growing harassment of human rights activists and civil society organizations, describing it as a worrying trend.

He urged Tinubu to live up to his campaign promises, warning that if the government fails to address these issues, the country could face further unrest. “The situation may trigger more crises if not addressed immediately,” he warned.

The Aare Ona Kakanfo concluded his letter by calling on Tinubu to reverse the current trend of hardship and oppression, emphasizing that time is running out for the administration to make meaningful changes.
