A horrifying incident has shaken the residents of Nnewichi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, as three siblings a five-year-old boy and his two sisters, aged seven and nine were brutally murdered by unknown assailants in their home. Their bodies were later discovered stuffed inside a deep freezer.
The victims, identified as Ejezie Chikaima Daviana (9), Ejezie Chimziterem Dominica (7), and Ejezie Chimdilim David (5), were reportedly eating in their house when the assailants stormed in and killed them.
Their father, Mr. Ejezie Udochukwu, who is based in Irrua, Edo State, recounted the heartbreaking incident.
He explained that his wife, Mrs. Chikazo Ejezie—a lecturer and nurse—had left home on Saturday to take an examination. Upon returning, she noticed the house was unusually open.
“When my wife returned, she found the house wide open, which was strange because our children always locked the door when going out,” Udochukwu said.
A desperate search ensued when the children were nowhere to be found. Eventually, the deep freezer was opened, revealing their lifeless bodies.
“In the bungalow where we live, there are only two tenants and the landlord. The children were eating when the assailants stormed in at about noon, as food was still on the plates, seemingly abandoned in haste,” Udochukwu lamented.
The police have since taken up the case, depositing the children’s bodies at a morgue while launching an investigation.
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the incident and stated that the State Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka for a thorough probe.
“The bodies have been recovered, and the CP has ordered a comprehensive investigation,” Ikenga said.
As of the time of this report, the killers remain unidentified, and the motive behind the gruesome act is still unknown.
The brutal murder of the three children has left the community in deep sorrow and fear.
Residents are demanding justice, calling on security agencies to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to book.
Meanwhile, their devastated father, struggling to come to terms with the tragedy, said he could not think of anyone who might have harbored such intentions against his family.
The case continues to develop as authorities intensify efforts to unravel the mystery behind this tragic killing.
