The dos and don’ts of skincare

Hi there! This isn’t your typical skincare article. As you read this and go about your day to day activities, I want you to think of me as the angel on your shoulder – the self care angel.  As the angel on your shoulder, I will be sure to call you out if you don’t apply these secrets to healthy skin dutifully.

The first thing to remember is that beautiful skin does not come by magic. Unless you were born with flawless skin (in which case I am already jealous of you), it’s a matter of consistency and sticking with the right products. Maintaining healthy skin involves a few steps that everyone should take. It’s not necessary to be a slave to your skincare routine; it can be an opportunity to pamper yourself every day. The key to regaining your skin’s health and youthful appearance is maintaining a daily skincare routine.

Now let’s get to it!

Do: wear sunscreen every day

Sun damage can slowly deteriorate the health of your skin if you don’t take steps to protect it on a daily basis. The primary cause of ageing skin is excessive sun exposure. That’s why sunscreen is an important part of any skincare routine.

Don’t: forget to moisturize daily

It is possible to forget moisturizing when you have a routine that requires you to rush in the morning. Moisturizing is one of the most important things you can do every single day, next to sunscreen. Whatever type of skin you have — oily, dry, or anything in between — finding the right moisturizer is essential. The Disaar Aloe Vera Gel is a perfect moisturiser alternative for people who find moisturiser too expensive. It even works for scars and sunburn. You couldn’t get luckier.

Don’t: over-exfoliate

You should incorporate exfoliation into your skincare routine. By removing dead skin cells, it allows new, healthier skin to grow. Whenever you’re exfoliating your skin, though, less is definitely more. It is essential to allow your skin to recover between exfoliation treatments whether you use physical or chemical exfoliants. An exfoliating routine of one to three times per week is sufficient for most skin types. Any more, and your skin might become irritated.

Do: give your body some love

Be aware of what you put into your body. Ensure you take plenty of vitamins and stay hydrated. Make sure you get on the right diet and take note of the food that triggers certain skin reactions.

Don’t: neglect your neck and décolletage

A great deal of attention is paid to the face when it comes to skincare. However, you must also keep in mind that your neck and chest are on display. These areas of your body have thinner skin that’s more prone to damage than other places. If you want your skin to remain glowing and healthy, make sure you moisturize, exfoliate, and wear sunscreen on these parts of your body.

Do: remove makeup before bed

By wearing makeup to bed, you’re letting dirt, oil, and toxins gathered throughout your day stay on your face. If you fail to cleanse away the bad stuff, you will likely have breakouts, irritated skin and clogged pores. By removing harmful bacteria from your skin, you can prevent unpleasant issues in the future.

Don’t: economize on sleep

Beauty sleep isn’t just for show. You should aim for six to eight hours of sleep each night to ensure that your body is properly repaired and ready for the next day. Don’t forget to allow your body time to reset and replenish so you don’t encounter eye bags, dark circles, breakouts, wrinkles, or inflammation.

Do: sleep on a clean pillowcase

Even after thoroughly removing all your makeup before hitting the sheets, you may find yourself breaking out and experiencing some skin reactions. Your pillow might be the problem! Your skin can pick up bacteria, makeup residues, dirt, and hair product residues that are on your pillow. Make sure you wash or change your pillowcase and bedspread every week or every two weeks!

Do: clean your phone

Every day, your phone comes into contact with many germs, which enter your face directly. It is recommended that you clean your phone daily and that you avoid pressing it against your skin while using it.

In closing, I want you to know that smooth skin does not necessarily mean healthy skin. Many people may be conditioned to believe bumps on their faces indicate unhealthy skin, but this is simply not true. In terms of aesthetics, you may desire a pore-free, hair-free, smooth face, but you need to know that having textured skin is not unhealthy at all.

Make sure you follow these tips dutifully. I’ll be watching (o_o).
