In yet another tragic attack on the Bakinpah-Maro community of Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, terrorists killed three people and abducted over 30, including a pastor, during a raid on Sunday.
The assailants, who stormed the area around 10:00 a.m., targeted worshippers at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) and a Catholic church.
The attack, which has left the community in shock, was confirmed by former Kajuru LGA chairman, Cafra Caino, who revealed that the terrorists arrived in large numbers and swiftly executed their plan.
Among those kidnapped was Pastor Bernard Gajera, who was leading one of the congregations at the time of the assault.
“The terrorists came in large numbers, around 10:00 a.m., during church service. They killed three people and took away over 30 others, including Pastor Bernard Gajera,” Caino said.
As of now, local police have not issued a statement regarding the attack.
This is not the first time the Bakinpah-Maro community has faced such violence. Repeated attacks by terrorists and bandits have plagued the region, forcing many farmers to abandon their lands out of fear.
In a recent effort to improve security, the community had raised funds to build a security post to attract more law enforcement personnel to the area, but the situation remains dire.
The persistent insecurity in Kajuru LGA has caused immense hardship, with many residents living in constant fear of being targeted.
While the local and state governments have implemented some measures to curb the violence, these efforts have so far proven insufficient in preventing these brutal attacks.
The latest incident has reignited calls for urgent intervention from federal authorities to bolster security in the region and prevent further loss of life.
The people of Kajuru remain hopeful that more will be done to protect their communities from the ongoing wave of terrorism.
