Gunmen suspected to be terrorists have ambushed and killed the traditional ruler of Yukuben chiefdom in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State, Udeng Ibrahim Yamusa and his son, who is also his driver.
The bandits were said to have on Thursday kidnapped the monarch and his son in an ambush while they were returning home from Takum, the headquarters of Takum LGA, before killing them later.
The first son of the murdered traditional ruler, who is also his secretary, Pastor John Ibrahim, confirmed the development, saying “my father and brother were taken unaware by these suspected militias. They decided to travel on a motorcycle leaving his official car because of our dilapidated road network.”
Ibrahim called on security operatives to do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book, adding that troops should be deployed to the southern zone of Taraba State to curtail the activities of the terrorists.
The incident was also confirmed by the acting Police Public Relations Officer in Taraba State, DSP Kwache Gambo. He said that the remains of the traditional ruler and his son were found in a bush in another community far away from the scene of the kidnap.
Gambo said an investigation into the incident had begun as the state commissioner of police had directed that those behind the killing must be unravelled.
