Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Prof. Teddy Adias, has tasked students of the institution to always take their studies seriously, saying the varsity believes in good character and high academic performance.
Adias stated this on Saturday at Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government area of the state, during the 10th matriculation ceremony of the institution.
Adias, a Professor of Heamatology, is the third Vice Chancellor of the university.
Addressing the new intakes, the VC advised them to take their studies seriously and also take the right directions in all they do in order to achieve academic milestones and excellence.
He warned the students against illegal associations and relationships in and around the university environment.
The VC added that students who could not cope with the standards of the institution in terms of character and academic performance would be shown the way out.
On the successes recorded so far, Adias noted that the ceremony marked the formal admission of 2,423 students for the 2020/2021 academic sessions into the university.
He urged the students to always allow the university to pass through them and not allowing themselves to pass through the university alone
“You can now see yourselves as full and bonafide members of the Federal University, Otuoke, and also abide by the institution’s rules and regulations.
“We want to advise you to shun all criminal activities that may tarnish your image, that of your parents and guidance as well as your sponsors,” he counselled.
Also speaking, the Registrar of the institution, Mr Yousuo Iruo, cautioned the students against bad behaviour in and out of the institution.
He advised them to be close to their book and know their purpose and mission of being in the institution.
