Super Eagles Set for Final Qualifier with Key Absences

As the Super Eagles prepare for their final AFCON 2025 qualifier on Monday, the team faces some notable absences due to personal matters and club commitments, despite already securing their place in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Stanley Nwabali, who has been a consistent presence in the squad, has been excused from the team following the recent loss of his father.

The goalkeeper has returned home to attend to family matters during this difficult time.

Ademola Lookman, who featured in Thursday’s 1-0 victory over Benin Republic, has also been given time away from the team.

The forward sustained a knock during the match and was excused from today’s training session for recovery and treatment.

Additionally, Ola Aina, who has been a regular for the Eagles, has returned to England.

His club, Nottingham Forest, requested that Coach Augustine Eguavoen release the defender early, as the Premier League side prepares for a crucial fixture against Arsenal.

With Nigeria’s AFCON qualification already secured, the request was granted.

In light of these absences, Coach Eguavoen will look to give other invited players the opportunity to start and showcase their abilities in various positions.

Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye is expected to start in goal, as the Super Eagles aim to end their qualification campaign on a high note.

The Super Eagles will continue their preparations for Monday’s game, confident of securing a positive result to cap off their successful qualification campaign.
