Following their return from international duty, where the Super Eagles of Nigeria secured a win and a draw, several Nigerian players delivered standout performances for their respective clubs across Europe over the weekend.
Ademola Lookman continued his excellent form, following his two goals for Nigeria during the international break. On Sunday, he contributed a goal and an assist in Atalanta’s 3-1 home win against Fiorentina in the Italian Serie A, further showcasing his attacking prowess and winning the player of the match award in his first Seria A game of the season.
Victor Boniface, who struggled to score for the Super Eagles during the break, rediscovered his goal-scoring touch with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga. The striker netted two goals and provided an assist in Leverkusen’s commanding 4-1 away victory over Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Meanwhile,Victor Osimhen made his debut for Galatasaray in style as they demolished Rizespor 5-0. Though Osimhen appeared to have scored his first goal with a header, the goal was later credited to Bardakcı A. after his touch redirected the ball into the net. Osimhen was instead credited with an assist for the effort.
