The Nigerian Super Eagles were held to a goalless draw by Rwanda in their second match of the AFCON 2025 qualifiers.
The encounter, played at the Amahoro Stadium, saw both teams share the spoils in what was an intense, end-to-end contest.
Rwanda began the match with an early spell of pressure, forcing the Super Eagles to stay on the defensive in the opening minutes.
However, the visitors gradually found their rhythm, taking control of the game and dictating the pace of play.
Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman thought he had given his side the lead when he found the back of the net midway through the first half, but his goal was disallowed for offside. The Super Eagles continued to press forward, but their efforts to break the deadlock were thwarted by a resolute Rwandan defense.
The second half mirrored the first, with both teams creating chances but failing to convert. Despite the attacking intent on display, neither side could find the decisive touch to secure a win.
With the result, Nigeria remain at the top of their AFCON 2025 qualifying group with 4 points from two games, keeping their hopes of qualification on track. Rwanda, meanwhile, earned a valuable point to boost their own qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles will now look ahead to their next fixture, as they aim to solidify their position at the top of the table and edge closer to AFCON 2025 qualification.
