The counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has urged the people of the South-East to unite and restore peace in the region.
Speaking on Monday in a statement issued to journalists in Owerri, Ejiofor addressed the insecurity in the South-East, following the recent arrest of Simon Ekpa, a self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government in Exile.
Although he did not directly name Ekpa, Ejiofor criticised deceit and criminality in the struggle for Biafra.
“I have always maintained that lies, deceit, fraud, treachery, and criminality have an expiration date. When the truth reaches its breaking point, it is inevitable: Game Over!” he declared.
Ejiofor dismissed baseless claims of imminent declarations and past promises involving fighter jets and warships, which he called tools for self-aggrandisement.
“I warned those willing to listen that they have been swindled. My stance earned me severe criticism, threats, and defamation. But today, where do we stand?”
He called for reflection and reconciliation among the people, stating, “It is time for those who profess to have been deceived by an unrepentant serial fraudster to pause, reflect, and retreat.
“Let us restore peace in our land so the custodians of Igbo heritage can seek ways to appease the gods for the atrocities committed against our people.”
While acknowledging the marginalisation of Ndi Igbo within Nigeria’s political framework, Ejiofor rejected violence, fraud, and criminality as tools for liberation.
“True struggles for the liberation of the oppressed must reject violence, fraud, criminality, and abuse as strategies.
“Freedom can never be won through such means. There’s absolutely no wisdom in cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face,” he concluded.
