Nigerian music sensation, Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, better known as Skales, has opened up about his dynamic relationship with fellow artist Burna Boy, revealing an intriguing chapter of their musical journey.
In an engaging chat on Naija FM, Lagos, Skales shared that he played a pivotal role in inspiring Burna Boy during the early stages of his career. Reflecting on their 2017 collaboration, he remarked that prior to featuring Burna Boy on the ‘Temper Remix’, the Port Harcourt-born star had yet to deliver a breakout hit.
However, Skales was quick to acknowledge the mutual nature of their artistic influence, emphasizing that Burna Boy has equally inspired him over the years.
Highlighting the essence of collaboration in the music industry, he stated, “I inspired Burna Boy. He will agree with me. So, nobody help anybody. We probably admire ourselves and we decide to work together. As at then, Burna Boy had no hot song before I featured him on ‘Temper Remix.’ It was after our collaboration that he started excelling. I’m not trying to take credit for his success, but he has inspired me over the years, and I believe I inspired him at a point, too.”
This revelation sheds light on the often-overlooked symbiotic relationships that fuel the creative process in the music world.
