Six aspirants contesting the All Progressives Congress primaries in Edo State have submitted their expression of interest and nomination forms to the party secretariat in Abuja as of Wednesday.
According to records in the office of the APC National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibidiro, Pastor Osazie Ize-Iyamu, Osaro Obazee, Governor Godwin Obaseki, Pius E. Odubu, Iduoriyekemwen, and Chris Ogiemwonyi have already submitted their forms.
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020, was the last day for the submission of forms while June 10th and 11th 2020 are the days set aside for the screening of aspirants contesting in the June 22 party primaries.
Also, Governor Godwin Obaseki; a former Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr Pius Odubu; a two-term Majority Leader, Edo State House of Assembly, Mr Matthew Iduoriyekemwe, and former Minister of State for Works, Mr Chris Ogiemwonyi, were among those who had submitted their forms to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday.
After submitting his forms, Ogiemwonyi told newsmen that he fully supported direct primaries, adding that he had once suffered injustice on account of the indirect mode adopted for the election which produced Obaseki as the APC governorship candidate in 2016.
