Nigerian singers, Laycon and Praiz are the newest members of ‘The Recording Academy’ class of 2022.
The Recording Academy announced this through its various social media platforms on Tuesday, June 28:
“Today we extend membership invitations to over two thousand seven hundred plus established music professionals from wide-ranging background, genres and disciplines”,
“Our members are instrumental to fulfilling our mission and fostering a better world for our creators”.
Reacting to the news, Laycon, former Big Brother Naija winner wrote on his Twitter page: “Africa up! I am now officially a member of the @RecordingAcad, joining the best creators and professionals who serve, celebrate, and advocate for our music community year-round. #IAmTheAcademy #LayconXRecordingAcademy
Praiz who was Second runner-up at the maiden season of Project Fame West Africa, wrote on his Twitter page: “I’m honoured to be part of the new @RecordingAcad member class and join the countless creators and professionals who serve, celebrate and advocate for our music community year-round #IAmTheAcademy”.
The newly invited members have until July 12 to accept their invitations to be able to vote for the 65th annual Grammy Awards.
