Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, attended the inaugural International Exhibition of Extractive and Energy Resources (Salon International des Ressources Extractives et Énergétiques –SIREXE), emphasizing the need for stronger governance, transparency, and collaboration to unlock Africa’s resource potential for sustainable development.
In his address, Vice President Shettima highlighted Nigeria’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable extractive industry, rooted in the principles of transparency, regional partnerships, and local capacity building.
“Our shared resource wealth must serve as a foundation for sustainable development across the continent,” he stated.
“Strengthened governance and collaboration between leaders and industry players are crucial to achieving this vision.”
Shettima also underscored the critical role of robust institutions in turning Africa’s natural resources into engines of national prosperity.
“Effective institutions are the cornerstone of transforming natural resources into national prosperity,” he added, calling for a unified approach to drive progress.
The inaugural SIREXE, hosted in Abidjan, serves as a platform for African leaders, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to explore opportunities for growth while addressing challenges such as environmental sustainability and equitable resource distribution.
